Wasserstein, a company that makes “Made for Google” accessories, launched a 3-in-1 charging dock in 2022 that could power up a Pixel phone, Pixel Buds, and a Fitbit smartwatch. At the time, it was strange that this dock wasn’t compatible with Google’s own Pixel Watch, but with the Pixel Watch 2’s new charging method, things have come full circle.
The Pixel Watch 2 ditches the wireless charging standard of the first Pixel Watch for a faster, cooler, and more secure pin-based method. This method is identical to the one used on Fitbit Sense and Versa smartwatches, and it’s the same method used on Wasserstein’s dock. The company has confirmed that the dock works with the Pixel Watch 2.
How the Dock Works
The Wasserstein 3-in-1 Pixel charging dock is straightforward. It has a slot for your Pixel phone, a slot for your Pixel Buds, and a spot for your smartwatch. Unlike many other options, the smartwatch dock is placed on the side of the phone, with plenty of room for any type of band you’re using.
Unfortunately, the dock uses USB-C connections for everything except the smartwatch, which uses the magnetic pin connection. While using wired connections can be better for your battery’s long-term health, most charging stands use Qi wireless charging. There are other wireless charging options for Pixel devices, but Wasserstein’s dock is the only one that has Google’s official stamp of approval and supports all three devices.
The Wasserstein 3-in-1 dock is available on Amazon and the company’s website, but not in the Google Store. It originally cost over $80, but it’s now down to a more reasonable $50.
