Summer is the favorite season for children as they get the summer vacation to enjoy their time. Because of the too much hotness or warmth in the weather, schools and universities let the children spend their time in their homes so that they can avoid the sun’s rays.

But children can’t stay in their homes it doesn’t matter its a heavy loo outside or heavy thunder they have to play on the ground.  Playing in the hot summer evening will be harmful to children and even for adults because too much sun rays can cause many health issues.

You might have been thinking that why the sun is harmful, as even doctors said to get vitamin D  from the sun. Sun rays are good but in adequate quantity. too much of anything can be harmful. When any person is suffering from vitamin D deficiency the first thing which is suggested by doctors is to sit in the sun to tot their deficiency can be managed.

Most of the rays that reach the earth are the UVA and the amount of UVB that reaches the earth depends on the altitude, latitude, and some other factors. On a full day, the  UVB reaches out to the sun between 10 am to 4 pm, even on a cloudy day you can get sunburn from the UVB rays.

These are also rays that can cause skin cancer in humans. Most of all, it is very important to protect your children from ultraviolet rays. Let’s see some of the ways with the help which you can easily avoid too many sun rays on your skin.

We all know that too much sun can cause harmful effects on our bodies but we don’t know how we can protect our body bodies from the sun. Being afraid of your skin you can’t sit in the house, you have to get out and do your work. At that time you should know how you can protect yourself from the sun. We will discuss some of the safety measures which are easy to use and will protect you from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

1. Sunscreen:

There is no sunscreen on the market yet which can protect you completely from the sun’s rays. So sunscreen can not be used alone it should be used along with other safety measures. while choosing the sunscreen make sure you choose the sunscreen which is above SPF 30 or the sunscreen with SPF 30 will be ok. but below 30 will not protect your skin from the sun. always prefer sunscreen which is waterproof as waterproof sunscreen will protect your skin even when you are sweating.

don’t forget that the sunscreen which you have used in the morning will not stay until evening even not till afternoon. So try reapplying sunscreen after every 2-3 hours. When you are going outside apply the sunscreen before 20-30 minutes so that it can start its mechanism on your skin. The SPF which we have mentioned above means the “SUN PROTECTION FACTOR” and it’s m=basically the level of protection against UVB rays.

If you bought the sunscreen 1 month back then first check the expiry date of the sunscreen as the outdated sunscreen will not protect your skin from the sun. Apply sunscreen on all parts of your body that will be exposed to the sun’s rays. As for your lips don’t forget to use any lip moisturizer with sunscreen.

Even doctors suggest applying sunscreen when you are at home.

2. Clothing:

Many people prefer to wear half sleeves or shorts so that they can get as much air as they can but they forget about the UV rays, they forget that the part which is being exposed to the sun might get harmed because of sun. Though in summer it is very hot, so try to wear something light and comfortable. But always try to cover your whole body part or as much as you can so that you can protect your skin from the sun.

With your clothes don’t forget to buy a hat in the summer. You put the matching hat with your clothes so that it will look more trendy and will also protect you from the sun. When you are buying the hat always search for the legionnaire style hat with the wide brim as it will cover most of your face and UV rays will not contact your face as much as without a hat.

If you are thinking that you can protect your exposed parts with sunscreen while wearing half sleeves or shorts then you are wrong as we have said before sunscreen will not protect you completely from the sun. Sunscreen is used with other safety measures.

3. Sunglasses:

You might have experienced when you go out in the sun without sunglasses you can feel the irritation in your eyes after a while. This happens because the ultraviolet rays are reaching out to your eyes directly which is very harmful. As the eyes are the most sensitive part of your body always try to protect them with more safety measures. When you wear glasses, the mirror of the glasses will protect your eyes from the sun’s rays.

But you can’t wear any local sunglasses you have to buy sunglasses with high or good quality lenses. So that it can properly protect your eyes from ultraviolet radiation. Even when you are going to the beach area, prefer wearing sunglasses as they will not only your eyes from UV radiation but also from the dust, air, or any particle from outside.

4. Shades:

Whenever you are outside and waiting for someone try to find any shade and stand under that shade, even if it’s the shade of a tree it will be good for you. When you are going somewhere on your feet try to walk in that area which is either covered with some trees or has any other kind of shade. When you go to the beach you can see the shady umbrellas are implanted so that you can rest under those umbrellas and can avoid the sun’s rays.

Always use the shade, especially between 10 am to 4 pm when the sun is at its strongest. It will take only 10 minutes to burn the pale skin of the person. And if you have fair skin then the sun is strictly prohibited for you at the time when it is at its strongest position. When you visit any area try to put your babies or children in an area that has some shade.

5. Never Let Your Guards Down:

Many people get excited by seeing the clouds in the sky, and they run outside without any safety measures for the sun. don’t let the clouds fool you. Even in the clouds, the sun is there it will harm you, the rays from the sun are still reaching out to the earth.

We already have said that in cloudy weather you can get sunburn from the UVB rays. Even if clouds have covered the sun but still 80% of ultraviolet rays are coming from the sun through the clouds. Even on a cloudy day, you have to apply sunscreen and wear your sunglasses.

If you are thinking that you just have to follow these steps or do sun safety just in summer then you are wrong. You have to protect your skin even in winter as the rays coming from the sun are the same as those coming in summer.

6. Cosmetic:

When you are buying cosmetics always read the labels on them as it will guide you about 90% of whether you should buy this product or not. When you see the ALPHA HYDROXYL ACID (AHAs) on the label of a particular product immediately drop the idea of buying it as this acid makes your skin more susceptible to the sun burns.

And when you apply those cosmetics on your skin even with sunscreen there will be more chance of sunburn as compared to normal. The same rule is applied to medicines if you think that the medicines which are given by a doctor have AHAs then you can consult the pharmacist about what safety measures you should take with these medicines.

7. Check Uv Index:

When you are planning to go outside for any work or going to play on the ground. You can check the UV index of your local area on the internet. The UV index is developed by the National Weather Service and the Environmental Protection Agency, that index is mainly based on a scale of 1 to 11+. it works like the higher the scale is the higher the amount of UV rays reaching out to the earth from the sun. So when you see 11+ on the scale of UV index try to avoid going out and stay in your home if it’s not necessary to go out.
